What inline editing actually does

Most AI writing tools force you into one of two workflows: generate an entire draft from a prompt, or copy a paragraph into a separate chat window and paste the result back. Both approaches break your editing flow. The first produces text that needs heavy revision. The second costs minutes per edit and strips formatting every time you move text between applications. Inline editing eliminates both problems by putting the AI directly inside the document where you are already working.

Gixo gives you two inline editing modes. Quick AI actions are one-click operations — rewrite, simplify, expand, fix grammar, make professional, or make casual — that transform selected text instantly. Power Edit opens a free-form instruction field where you can type anything: "add a statistic about market size," "reframe this for a technical audience," or "shorten to two sentences." In both modes the AI reads your entire article, not just the highlighted selection, so every edit stays consistent with the tone, terminology, and argument structure of the surrounding content.

Selection Scope vs Context Scope

Power Edit includes a scope toggle that controls how the AI interprets your instruction. In Selection mode, the AI applies your instruction strictly to the highlighted text. In Context mode, the AI treats the entire article as input and uses your instruction as a directive for how to transform the selected passage within that broader context. This distinction matters when you want the rewritten paragraph to reference a statistic from your introduction or mirror terminology established three sections earlier. Context mode handles that automatically.

How It Works

1
Select Text

Highlight a word, sentence, or entire paragraph inside the Gixo editor. A floating toolbar appears immediately above your selection.

2
Choose an Action

Click a Quick AI button (rewrite, simplify, expand, fix grammar, make professional, make casual) or open Power Edit for a custom instruction.

3
Review the Result

The AI generates a replacement using full-article context. Preview the change before accepting it. If it misses the mark, adjust your instruction and try again.

4
Accept or Undo

Accept the edit to replace the original text in place, or undo to restore the previous version. Your formatting, headings, and images stay intact throughout.

Two editing modes, one toolbar

Quick AI actions handle common edits in one click. Power Edit handles everything else with free-form instructions and full-article context.

Rewrite

Rephrase selected text while preserving meaning. Useful when a sentence feels clunky or when you need a fresh angle on the same point.

Simplify

Reduce complex language to plain, readable prose. Ideal for turning technical jargon into accessible explanations without losing accuracy.

Expand

Add depth, examples, or supporting details to a short passage. The AI reads the full article to ensure expanded content fits naturally into the surrounding text.

Fix Grammar

Correct spelling, punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure issues in one click. No red underlines — just clean, corrected text.

Make Professional

Elevate casual or draft-quality writing to a polished, business-appropriate register. Tightens sentence structure, removes colloquialisms, and sharpens word choice.

Make Casual

Soften formal or stiff prose into a conversational, approachable tone. Useful for blog posts, newsletters, and social media drafts that need warmth.

Who it's built for

Three types of writers get the most value from editing text in place rather than switching to an external AI tool.

Content Marketers Producing at Volume

When you publish multiple articles per week, the minutes spent copying text to ChatGPT and pasting it back add up fast. Inline editing lets you rewrite a weak intro, simplify a dense paragraph, and expand a thin section without ever leaving the editor. Each edit takes seconds instead of minutes, and the AI keeps tone consistent across 2,000-word posts because it reads the full article before suggesting changes.

Subject-Matter Experts Writing for Non-Technical Audiences

Engineers, analysts, and researchers often write with precision that their broader audience cannot follow. The Simplify action and free-form Power Edit instructions like "explain this for a marketing manager" let you keep the substance while adjusting the delivery. Because the AI understands the full article context, simplified passages still align with terminology introduced earlier in the piece.

Editors Reviewing Drafts from Multiple Writers

Editors managing a content team can highlight inconsistent passages and use Power Edit to align them with the publication's style guide. Instead of rewriting each paragraph manually or leaving detailed comments for the author, the editor types an instruction like "match the tone of the introduction" and the AI handles the transformation. This cuts review cycles from days to hours.

Edit Smarter, Not Harder

Select text, pick an action, and get results in place. No more copy-paste workflows with external AI tools.

Beyond one-click actions

Power Edit: Free-Form Instructions with Full Context

Quick AI actions cover the six most common editing tasks, but real writing demands more nuance. Power Edit opens an instruction field where you can type anything: "add a transition sentence that connects this to the previous section," "reframe this paragraph as a customer testimonial," or "condense these three bullet points into one sentence." The AI processes your instruction against the full article, not just the selected text, so the output fits naturally into the document without redundancy or contradiction.

You can also dictate instructions using voice input. Click the microphone icon, speak your edit direction, and Power Edit transcribes and executes it. This is particularly useful when you know what you want but find it faster to say it than to type it — especially during long editing sessions where keyboard fatigue sets in.

AI Write: Generate New Content Inline

While Quick AI actions and Power Edit transform existing text, AI Write generates new text at your cursor position. Place your cursor between two paragraphs, open AI Write, and choose from quick prompts — write an introduction, add a summary, create a transition, insert an example — or type a custom prompt. The generated content appears inline, already formatted to match the rest of your document. Like Power Edit, AI Write reads the full article so new sections reference existing arguments and maintain consistent terminology.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Quick AI actions and Power Edit?
Quick AI actions are pre-built, one-click operations: rewrite, simplify, expand, fix grammar, make professional, and make casual. They handle the most common editing tasks without any additional input from you. Power Edit, on the other hand, opens a free-form text field where you can type any instruction — from specific tone adjustments to structural changes to adding new information. Both modes read the full article for context, but Power Edit gives you complete control over what the AI does with the selected text.
Does the AI understand the full article when editing a paragraph?
Yes. When you select a paragraph and apply any Quick AI action or Power Edit instruction, the AI processes the entire article as context — not just the highlighted text. This means rewritten passages maintain consistent terminology, avoid repeating points already made in other sections, and reference arguments established elsewhere in the document. The Context scope toggle in Power Edit makes this behavior explicit: you can switch between Selection mode (isolated edit) and Context mode (full-article awareness) depending on the task.
Can I undo AI edits?
Yes. Every AI edit can be undone with a single click, restoring the original text exactly as it was before the change. The undo function works for Quick AI actions, Power Edit transformations, and AI Write insertions. Your document's formatting, headings, images, and other elements remain untouched throughout the process. You can also re-run an edit with a different instruction if the first result did not match your intent.
