How AI edits a document in Quill

Quick AI — six one-click actions on the selection: rewrite, simplify, expand, fix, professional, casual. The result replaces your selection in place and you accept or undo it.
Power Edit — type your own instruction instead of picking an action, with the rest of the article available as context. Preview the replacement before you accept it.
Ask Quill — describe the change you want and Quill proposes the individual edits, each with its reason, before anything is saved. Keep the ones that help and drop the rest. Proposing uses your plan's capacity; applying what you keep is free.
A proposal can still be wrong, and Ask Quill needs full edit access on the document. Reviewing what it suggests is the point — nothing is saved until you choose it.
What inline editing actually does: a sentence rewriter inside your document
Most AI writing tools force you into one of two workflows: generate an entire draft from a prompt, or copy a paragraph into a separate chat window and paste the result back. Both approaches break your editing flow. The first produces text that needs heavy revision. The second costs minutes per edit and strips formatting every time you move text between applications. Gixo gives you two inline editing modes. Quick AI actions are one-click operations — rewrite, simplify, expand, fix grammar, make professional, or make casual — that transform selected text instantly. Power Edit opens a free-form instruction field where you can type anything: "add a statistic about market size," "reframe this for a technical audience," or "shorten to two sentences." In both modes the AI reads your entire article, not just the highlighted selection, so every edit stays consistent with the tone, terminology, and argument structure of the surrounding content.
Selection Scope vs Context Scope
Power Edit includes a scope toggle that controls how the AI interprets your instruction. In Selection mode, the AI applies your instruction strictly to the highlighted text. In Context mode, the AI treats the entire article as input and uses your instruction as a directive for how to transform the selected passage within that broader context. This distinction matters when you want the rewritten paragraph to reference a statistic from your introduction or mirror terminology established three sections earlier. Context mode handles that automatically.
How It Works
Highlight a word, sentence, or entire paragraph inside the Gixo editor. A floating toolbar appears immediately above your selection.
Click a Quick AI button (rewrite, simplify, expand, fix grammar, make professional, make casual) or open Power Edit for a custom instruction.
The AI generates a replacement using full-article context. Preview the change before accepting it. If it misses the mark, adjust your instruction and try again.
Accept the edit to replace the original text in place, or undo to restore the previous version. Your formatting, headings, and images stay intact throughout.

Power Edit opens an instruction field where you can type anything: "add a transition sentence that connects this to the previous section," "reframe this paragraph as a customer testimonial," or "condense these three bullet points into one sentence." The AI processes your instruction against the full article, not just the selected text, so the output fits naturally into the document without redundancy or contradiction.
You can also dictate instructions using voice input. Click the microphone icon, speak your edit direction, and Power Edit transcribes and executes it. This is particularly useful when you know what you want but find it faster to say it than to type it — especially during long editing sessions where keyboard fatigue sets in.
AI Write: Generate New Content Inline
While Quick AI actions and Power Edit transform existing text, AI Write generates new text at your cursor position. Place your cursor between two paragraphs, open AI Write, and describe what you want — an introduction, a summary, a transition, an example — or type a custom prompt. The generated content appears inline, already formatted to match the rest of your document. Like Power Edit, AI Write reads the full article so new sections reference existing arguments and maintain consistent terminology.
