About Us Slide
An about us slide establishes why the audience should listen to you. The version that works answers 'why you' rather than 'who you are' — which is why founding dates and office photographs usually do nothing, while a relevant client or a specific credential does.

What belongs on it
- The relevant credential. Whatever makes you credible for this audience, not your full history.
- Proof at their scale. Clients or results that resemble their situation.
- The people they will work with. Named, with what each does — not an org chart.
- One number if you have a good one. Years, clients, volume. One, not six.
- Deliberate omissions. Founding date, office locations and mission statements rarely earn space.
Getting it right
| Weak version | Stronger version |
|---|---|
| 'Founded in 2014' | 'We have run this migration 40 times' |
| Full leadership team | The three people they will actually work with |
| Logo wall of every client | Three clients that look like them |
| Mission statement | The specific thing you are unusually good at |
| Office photographs | A result with a number attached |
Common mistakes
- Putting it first. Audiences care about their problem before your history; earn the attention first.
- Generic logo walls. Logos that look nothing like the audience prove you serve someone else.
- The full team. Show the people they will meet, not the whole company.
- Adjectives instead of evidence. Innovative and passionate are claimed by everyone.
- One slide reused for every audience. The credential that matters changes with the room.
Frequently asked questions
What should be on an about us slide?
The credential that makes you credible for this specific audience, proof at their scale, the people they will actually work with, and at most one supporting number.
Where should the about us slide go?
After the problem, not before it. Audiences engage with their own situation first and judge your credibility second.
Should I include our founding date?
Rarely. It matters only where longevity is itself the credential, such as regulated or long-warranty work. Otherwise it takes space from evidence.
How many team members should I show?
The ones the audience will actually work with, usually two to four. A full leadership slide answers a question nobody asked.
What Lumen layout do I use?
The Team layout for people, or TitleContent if the slide leads on a credential rather than faces.
