Medium publishing guide

Export Gixo content to Medium cleanly. Use the Export for Medium handoff to copy formatted HTML or use Medium's "Import a story" feature.

How to Export and Publish on Medium

Four steps from generating your content to importing and publishing on Medium.

1
Generate Your Content

Create an article, blog post, or newsletter in Gixo using the content editor. Edit and refine the content until you are satisfied with the output before exporting it to Medium.

2
Export for Medium

Click the publish action in Gixo and select Medium to open the Export for Medium handoff. Copy the clean formatted HTML or prepare your public post URL.

3
Import a story on Medium

Open Medium, go to Stories, and click "Import a story" using your article's URL, or paste the copied HTML directly into the Medium editor then inspect headings, quotes, lists and links in the destination.

4
Review and Publish on Medium

Open Medium, review the draft in their editor, add tags, set a featured image if desired, and publish when ready. Medium controls the imported presentation, so inspect headings, lists, links and images instead of assuming identical formatting.

Formatting Tip
Medium strips some advanced HTML — keep formatting simple for best results. Inspect headings, emphasis, lists, quotes and images after import. Avoid complex tables or custom CSS, which Medium does not support.
SEO Tip
Set and verify the original/canonical URL when cross-posting; it is a hint, not a guarantee against duplicate-content problems. If the article originally lives on your own blog, setting the canonical URL in Medium tells search engines which version is the original source.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import Gixo articles into Medium?
Export for Medium provides article HTML to copy or a public article URL for manual import. You finish the handoff in Medium. A usable verified legacy-token connection is a separate API route; availability depends on Medium and the connected account.
Does content publish as a draft or go live directly?
Manual export does not publish the article: paste or import it and review in Medium. The current article form offers only Save draft for an available verified legacy-token connection. The legacy API adapter can map PublishNow requests to unlisted posts, but that mode is not offered in this form. Review and publish in Medium.
Is formatting preserved when publishing to Medium?
Export supplies article HTML; Medium controls the imported presentation. Inspect headings, lists, links, tables and images before publication. Exact layout, custom CSS and embedded elements are not guaranteed to survive.
Can I publish to a Medium Publication?
Manual export leaves publication submission and permissions to Medium. The legacy delivery API accepts an optional publication ID, but the current article form only supplies a connection ID and has no publication chooser. Verify destination permissions and availability.
How do canonical URLs work with Medium?
When cross-posting, set and verify the original/canonical URL in the destination. The legacy API accepts an optional canonical URL, but the current article form does not supply it. A canonical hint does not guarantee search engines choose that URL or prevent duplicate-content problems.
