How to Connect Ghost, Generate Content, and Publish

Six steps from creating a custom integration in Ghost to publishing and scheduling content.

1
Create a Custom Integration in Ghost

In your Ghost admin panel, go to Settings, then Integrations, and click Add Custom Integration. Give it a name like "Gixo" — Ghost generates an Admin API key and a Content API key for this integration.

2
Copy the Admin API Key

From the custom integration page, copy the Admin API key. This key grants write access to create, update, and publish posts through the Ghost Admin API. Store it securely.

3
Connect in Gixo Settings

Open Gixo Settings, go to Integrations, and select Ghost. Enter your Ghost site URL and the Admin API key. Click Connect to authenticate. Gixo verifies the connection and confirms your Ghost site is linked.

4
Test with a Draft Post

Send a test post as a draft to verify the connection works. Check your Ghost admin to confirm the draft appears with correct formatting, headers, and content structure before publishing anything live.

5
Configure Tags and Authors

Set tags in Gixo before sending the article. Check the assigned author and tag organization in Ghost before publication; the Gixo delivery form does not select a Ghost author.

6
Publish or Schedule

Send a draft to Ghost for review or publish now from the Gixo article form. To publish later, schedule the draft inside Ghost. The separate delivery API supports scheduled Ghost posts. Ghost imports the HTML into its editor representation; inspect images, structure and theme styling before publication.

Security Tip
Treat your Admin API key as a write credential and store it securely. Do not share it publicly or commit it to version control. Follow your Ghost site’s key rotation process if it is compromised.
Pro Tip
Use a Ghost site that exposes the Admin API and permits custom integrations. Confirm the hosting plan, version and site configuration allow this access before connecting.
Workflow Tip
For a content calendar, generate and review articles in Gixo, then send each one as a Ghost draft. Schedule publication inside Ghost after checking the imported content. Bulk generation requires a plan that includes it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a custom integration in Ghost?
In your Ghost admin panel, go to Settings, then Integrations, and click Add Custom Integration. Name it something descriptive like "Gixo." Ghost automatically generates an Admin API key and a Content API key for the integration. Copy the Admin API key for use in Gixo.
Does this work with Ghost Pro?
Use a Ghost site that exposes the Admin API and permits custom integrations. Confirm the hosting plan, version and site configuration allow this access before connecting.
Is HTML preserved when publishing to Ghost?
Gixo sends article HTML to the Ghost Admin API’s HTML import path, where Ghost converts it to its editor representation. Theme styling, unsupported markup and imported elements can change the result. Inspect the destination draft, including images and any structured data, before publishing.
Can I send posts to Ghost newsletters?
Gixo sends posts rather than newsletter recipients or send instructions. Check and configure any newsletter distribution inside Ghost before publishing.
Can I schedule posts for future publication?
The Gixo article publishing form offers Save draft or Publish now for Ghost. To publish later, send a draft and schedule it in Ghost. The separate delivery API accepts scheduled Ghost posts; account access and publication controls still apply.
