Printed page count depends on the trim size, the font, the leading and the margins, so any single figure is an estimate. This calculator applies three stored densities — about 250 words a page at 5 × 8 inches, 275 at 5.5 × 8.5 and 300 at 6 × 9 (Reedsy's published rule of thumb for a 6 × 9 paperback is also about 300) — and adds a third of a page per chapter for chapter openings. Text pages only, before front matter:
- 50,000 words — about 200 pages at 5 × 8, 182 at 5.5 × 8.5, 167 at 6 × 9
- 80,000 words — about 320 pages at 5 × 8, 291 at 5.5 × 8.5, 267 at 6 × 9

A larger font, generous leading or wide margins pushes a book toward the high counts; a dense trade layout pulls it toward the low ones. Treat the result as a planning range and confirm it against the proof your printer generates from the final PDF.
