WordPress Publishing Guide

Connect Gixo to your WordPress site and publish AI-generated content directly. Headers, images, and formatting are preserved through the WordPress REST API.

How to Connect and Publish

Six steps from verifying your WordPress setup to publishing your first post.

1
Verify REST API is Enabled

Ensure the WordPress REST API is accessible on your site. Visit yoursite.com/wp-json/wp/v2 in a browser — if you see JSON data, the API is active. Some security plugins disable it by default.

2
Create an Application Password

In your WordPress admin, go to Users, edit your profile, and scroll to the Application Passwords section. Create a new password with a descriptive name like "Gixo Integration" and copy the generated password.

3
Connect in Gixo Settings

Open Gixo Settings, go to Integrations, and select WordPress. Enter your site URL, WordPress username, and the Application Password you created. Click Connect to authenticate.

4
Test with a Draft Post

Send a test post as a draft to verify the connection works. Check your WordPress dashboard to confirm the draft appears with correct formatting, headers, and content structure.

5
Configure Categories and Tags

Map your Gixo content types to WordPress categories and tags. This ensures posts are automatically categorized when published, keeping your site organized without manual sorting.

6
Publish Content

Generate content in Gixo and publish directly to WordPress. Choose between publishing as a draft for review or publishing live immediately. All HTML formatting, headers, and images are preserved.

Troubleshooting
Ensure the REST API is not disabled by security plugins. Plugins like Wordfence, iThemes Security, or Disable REST API can block the endpoints Gixo uses. Whitelist the wp-json routes if needed.
Pro Tip
Test with a draft post before publishing live. This lets you verify formatting, image placement, and category mapping without affecting your public site.
Where to Find It
Application Passwords are in Users, then Edit your profile, then scroll to the bottom of the page. This feature requires WordPress 5.6 or later and is built into core — no plugin needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What WordPress versions are supported?
Gixo works with WordPress 5.6 and later. Application Passwords were introduced in WordPress 5.6, which is required for authentication. Both WordPress.com Business plans and self-hosted WordPress are supported.
Do I need to install a WordPress plugin?
No. Gixo connects through the WordPress REST API and Application Passwords, both of which are built into WordPress core. No additional plugin is required on your WordPress site.
What is an Application Password?
An Application Password is a WordPress feature that generates a separate password for third-party integrations. It grants API access without exposing your main login credentials. You can revoke it at any time from your WordPress profile.
Are images uploaded to WordPress?
Yes. When you publish content with images, Gixo uploads them to your WordPress media library and inserts them into the post with proper image tags. Featured images can also be set during the publishing process.
Is formatting preserved when publishing?
Yes. Gixo sends content as clean HTML through the REST API. Headers, bold text, lists, blockquotes, images, and other formatting elements are preserved exactly as they appear in the Gixo editor.
